Jilli gave birth to her pups, yesterday 6th February 2015. By midnight there were 8 pups all blue, and in the morning there was one more in her bed!
They are all a good size, at about 8oz., slightly lighter blue than their mother at this stage, and with somewhat crinkly coats. Some pups have a paler line down their spines. I guess the coats will soon be filled out and the pale line, disappear.
Each is sucking well and they already look larger.
Jilli is a top mother, managing the wet little bodies most carefully and lying out for all to feed for long stretches. She licks them often and they are settled.
She has eaten a lot. She has had nearly 1 lb of chopped beef, puppy biscuits, lacfree milk and some water. She has been outside under protest, long enough for me to change all the bedding.
So far, both mother and pups are on a good track.
